Honours and Awards
After being called as media expert for toxicology, the Royal Society of Chemistry carried out
an interview for their magazine, Chemistry World and their website. The article was entitled
“From Northumbria with Love” and was published in July 2018

I received a competitive Researcher Mobility Fellowship in 2014 from the Royal Society of
Chemistry to spend 6 weeks in the toxicology laboratory of the Institut de Recherche
Criminelle de la Gendarmerie Nationale in Rosny-sous-Bois, Paris, France. The project was
entitled “Detection and quantitation of narcotics, psychotropics and other drugs of interest to
roadside drug testing in oral fluid by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry”. The award
was worth £5000
I was the convener of a conference with invited International speakers on forensic and analytical
toxicology held at the University of Teesside in collaboration with the Forensic Science Society in
April 2008
